Go Compare – ‘Gio Compario’
The brief
Go Compare have recently launched a massive brand campaign featuring the new face of Go Compare – ‘Gio Compario’. The client wanted to find the best media and formats to introduce the character online.
The work
The main above the line activity consists of various TV spots where Gio bursts into a mundane, everyday scene and brings it to life with his imaginative song and colourful personality. The banner concepts needed to take the essence of the TV scripts provided by the above the line agency, and really begin to explore Gio’s personality online using the numerous formats and options available.
The first banner needed to support the social media campaign ‘Who is Gio’ that was running the entire week before the first TV advert broke. This drove people to a landing page showcasing a ‘Who is Gio?’ video and facebook link. I came up with concepts, wrote and helped produce the banner, as well as brainstorming ideas for the social media side, and having my very own cameo appearance in the video itself!
The second banner aired to coincide with the TV advert. This introduces Gio in his full glory online, and encourages users to click through to the Go Compare website.
The result
A successful banner campaign to support the ongoing social media work and TV advertising. The end result is a far more cohesive, impressive brand campaign that really stands out from the crowd and uses digital media to the best of it’s capabilities.
